This month is significant for two reasons. First, it’s been one year since I had life-saving surgery. Second, it’s time for the International Builders’ Show (IBS).
No other trade show, conference or convention has the impact IBS has in the construction industry. If you’ve never attended, you have no idea what walking through the exhibits and vendors’ booths can mean for you and your company. In addition to the show floor, there are more speakers than any other construction industry event, and more lounges and speaker forums. And there are many people to meet and talk with, both exhibitors and fellow attendees.
COVID-19 has disrupted the Show over the past few years, but this one should see almost everything back to normal. It’s exciting just thinking about the new things I will see, and the people I will meet in person for the first time whom I have only spoken with via phone or Zoom.
One section of IBS that is super exciting to visit is the outdoor exhibits. This year’s exhibitors will include offsite-built houses erected on-site by Impresa Building Systems, Champion Homebuilders, and Boxabl.
Every year also features a show house built away from the convention center. Board the buses that will take you there and see what new innovations are available for your company to add to the homes you build.
A key feature for this year’s show in Las Vegas will be the Construction Performance Zone. It will have three distinct areas: The Demonstration Stage with a series of 30-minute interactive demonstrations, The Presentation Stage with industry experts hosting interactive talks, and the Building Display Area with a closeup look at various housing components.
One of the biggest attractions at last year’s show in Orlando was the New Product Zone and it’s back this year. The Zone is your chance to get up close and personal with the hottest, newest and most innovative products to hit our industry.
The show is open for three days but, honestly, you will be so excited by everything you see and hear that you will be amazed at how fast those three days fly by.
One group that is starting to realize the importance of attending IBS is the modular and offsite industries. If you are a member of the Building Systems Councils and don’t attend IBS, you will miss out on learning about what is changing in our industry and all the innovations that will soon become part of your future.
I hope to see you there!
